Back to the Motherland Treks - December 2011 - January 2012

We will be traveling to East Africa for our child's first trip to his mother's homeland of Kenya and introduction to Luhya tribal traditions and culture. During this period several treks will be conducted with iparticipant able join/depart at several dates and locations and participate in selected activities. Each trek itinerary will be 10-14 days in duration and focused on a different geographic region and activities. Although final dates and itineraries are not yet confirmed activities will include:

Tanzania (and Kenya)

* Stays in Arusha, Moshi, Soni/Lushoto (with possible travel to Dar Es Salaam and Zanzibar) 
* National Parks and wildlife safaris (Arusha National Park, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area)
* Mt. Kilimanjaro climb
* Bicycle touring and/or mountain biking
* Hiking on Mt. Meru  

Kenya (and Uganda)

* Stays in Nairobi, Naivasha, Kitale, and Kampala
* Luhya tribal customs and initiation
* National Parks and wildlife safaris - Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha)
* Train Like a Kenyan Runner Train Program
* Ultimate (frisbee) in Kampala, Uganda
